Month of the Holy Rosary (Oct 11-13)
October 11, 2025
Fr. John Colacino C.PP.S.
This third set of mysteries, the "Eucharistic Mysteries," invites further reflection
on the last of the Luminous Mysteries, the Last Supper.

First Mystery:  Manna from heaven (Oct 11)

The Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. (Ex 16:4)

When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. (Ex 16:15a)

Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat. (Ex 16:15b)

The Lord God humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. (Deut 8:3)

The house of Israel called its name “Manna”, and it was like coriander seed, white; and its taste was like wafers with honey (Ex 16:31)

The LORD gave a command to the skies above
    and opened the doors of the heavens;
he rained down manna for the people to eat,
he gave them the grain of heaven. (Ps 78:24)

 Human beings ate the bread of angels;
he sent them all the food they could eat. (Ps. 78:25)

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. (Jn 6:32)

For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” (Jn 6:33)

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. (Rev 2:17a)

Your mercy, O God, extends from age to age,
and your mighty arm exalts the lowly.
As we ponder the marvels of your grace
in the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of your Son,
grant that we may receive your word
in obedient faith
and magnify your name
in holiness of life.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.

Second Mystery: Multiplication of the Loaves (Oct 12)

The Jewish Passover Festival was near. (Jn 6:4)

When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” (Jn 6:5)

He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. (Jn 6:6)

Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages[a] to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” (John 6:7)

Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” (Jn 6:8-9)

Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). (Jn 6:10)

Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. (Jn 6:11)

When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” (Jn 6:12)

So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. (Jn 6:13)

After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.” (Jn 6:14)

Father most holy,
who willed to associate Our Lady of Sorrows, Woman of the New Covenant,
to the sacrifice of your Son; through the merits of his precious blood,
grant, we pray, that your Church, born of Christ’s pierced side,
may always celebrate the memorial of his work of redemption
with the love of our Mother Mary showed.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
(Mary, Woman of the New Covenant)

Third Mystery: Bread of Life Discourse (Oct 13)

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. (Jn. 6:35)

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever."  (Jn. 6:51a)

"This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” (Jn 6:51:b)

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. (Jn 6:53)

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. (Jn 6:54)

For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. (Jn 6:55)

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. (Jn 6:56)

Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. (Jn 6:57)

This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” (Jn 6:58)

On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” (Jn 6:60)

Almighty God,
grant that your faithful people,
who enjoy the protection of the most holy Virgin Mary,
may by her motherly intercession
be freed from all evils here on earth
and be welcomed into the lasting joy of heaven.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
